The Multistage Recurrent Neural Circuit Model for Visual Cortex
In this blog, I present a hierarchical recurrent neural circuit model of the visual system that implements divisive normalization at each stage. This model incorporates long-range reciprocal connections between cortical areas, which are crucial for studying attention and inter-area communication. By considering a two-stage model (V1 and V4), we have uncovered intriguing findings related to the effects of feedback on contrast response function, inter-area communication subspace and coherence.
